Hewlett Packard

Company Rating

Hewlett Packard - or HP - is thought of as one of the creators of Silicon Valley. Started in the garage of two Stanford engineering graduates during Great Depression, with encouragement and oversight from one of Stanford's first great electrical engineering professors, it grew over time to be the worlds largest PC manufacturer - before losing out to Chinese company Lenovo - and continues to define the home printing business with its line of well made, easy to use printers.

HP products receive ratings that reflect both its California headquarters location (California receives some of the highest SweetScores) and its manufacturing locations, which generally receive relatively low ratings.
