South Korea

Location Rating

South Korea has been making massive strides in the tech world, but it lags behind on the majority of issues we measure. While not egregious by global standards, South Korea could be doing a lot better, especially on corruption, which runs rampant in many of its large international conglomerates.

See this article in the Guardian on the conviction on bribery charges of a senior Samsung executive and then his recent politically driven release.

As Asian countries go, South Korea is a fairly good trading partner to the US.

South Korea lags other developed nations on environmental protections, corruption, LGBTQ rights and women's equality.
